The Day that US Politics Took a Step Back Thanks to John EdwardsPosted by: Patriot101 in Politics on Jan 22, 2010 Tagged in: Untagged

So you’re probably thinking I’m going to bitch about how John Edwards waited until his illegitimate daughter Quinn was 2 years old before coming out and admitting that she was his, right? Well not so easy, of course that will be included here, but I’d like to share my thoughts on the entire day of January 21st 2010. Where John Edwards and his advisors took politics here in the US one huge step backwards, and honestly I hope this is what causes Edward’s political demise.
So here is how the day played out, and let’s look at the strategies in play too. So basically Edwards finally came clean and admitted the daughter of a campaign videographer was actually his. Here’s what he had to say about it in an article on CNN's website, "It was wrong for me ever to deny she was my daughter and hopefully one day, when she understands, she will forgive me." "To all those I have disappointed and hurt these words will never be enough, but I am truly sorry." Well news like this will hit the news channels pretty quick and it surely was all over the place.
But here is where the day turned dark. In what I assume was a strategy to take the limelight off of his bedroom escapades, a second press release and thus news articles came out that same day. Well do you know what it is yet? Edwards and his team thought to use the suffering in Haiti to overcome the negative reaction to him admitting Quinn was his. Now if that’s not a new level of sucking the blood from the poor I don’t know what is. Are we Americans that stupid that in one day we can go from feeling negative about a politician then back to liking him again? Not for this voter!
This publicity stunt goes too far in my mind, and to actually use the suffering of the earthquake victims in Haiti is well disgraceful! So on this day, January 21st of 2010, John Edwards personally disgraced the entire political system and in my mind another example of how some politicians think that we Americans are so stupid they can say and do whatever they want. Well not this guy!
What do you think?
